AMAQ statement for the position of student representative.

B.Sc (Hons), UQ GMC student
Other roles: Researcher with the Centre for Online Health, UQ.

There are many challenges confronting the doctors of tomorrow. Issues such as provider number legislation, the rural health crisis and the increasing use of technology impact upon the role of the doctors in the community. It is important that those whose futures are being affected are all able to contribute to this evolution.

With the recent inception of the Graduate Medical Course (GMC) at UQ and the first intake at JCU, it is a very exciting time for Queensland medical students. In cooperation with the various university and nationally based medical student societies, I hope to harness this excitement to generate dialogue concerning issues involving health care.

I wish to represent my fellow medical students, both at the University of Queensland and James Cook University, in fostering an environment that will provide the best opportunities for professional development. Ultimately this will benefit patients, the community and maximise the rewards that a career in medicine can realise.

Thank you for your consideration.
